This exceptionally lovely piece dates to the Victorian/Napoleonic era (mid-1800s) and hails from France. Set in sterling silver with gold overlay detail and Persian turquoise, the centrepiece is a hand painted portrait on porcelain enamel of a peasant girl carrying a basket. On the back, a silver encased glass cover holds an antique photo of a baby (the image can be easily replaced/changed as desired). A newer and beautifully crafted clasp also serves as a pendant bail for a necklace. The craftsmanship on this piece has to be seen to be appreciated, it is just exquisite.
