This unusual heavy cast metal bear decoration was made in occupied Japan by the SNK company circa late 1940s. In researching, it seems to be part of a series of Rocky Mountains animals; there was also a big horn sheep, mountain goat, a beaver, and probably others. My guess is that they were sold at gift shops around the Rocky Mountain area, and traveling tourists could collect the whole set. This particular one is in excellent condition, with only minimal wear, and would make a charming addition to a shelf vignette or even used as a whimsical paperweight. 4.5"L (12cm) x 1.5"D (4cm) x 2.75"H (7cm), $65
