Charming Georgian Era Gold Pendant w/ Garnets, Diamond, & Hair
Charming Georgian Era Gold Pendant w/ Garnets, Diamond, & Hair
This lovely piece was made in the early 1800s, and was originally a brooch. It is set in 9K gold with eight table cut rhodolite garnets, with a centre of beautifully woven hair under glass (a common practice at the time). On the back two sets of initials are engraved, reading "CT (?) to FG", indicating this jewelry was a token of love and/or friendship. At some point, the brooch was converted to a pendant with a gold bail set with a tiny diamond. We've had the bail professionally set (it was crooked!) and cleaned, and it is now bright and sparkly. In very nice condition, with expected wear on a 200-year-old piece, including a small chip in the corner of the glass. A truly charming little piece with lots of good energy. 1.75"L x 1.25"W, $345
